Geoff’s hard work, dedication, and entrepreneurial spirit have caused him to excel since the early stages of his career. He joined the firm as a co-operative education student in 1998, while studying at the University of Ottawa. As one of the firm’s first employees, and under Steve Parker’s mentorship, Geoff quickly benefited from both a wide range and significant depth of experience in audit, accounting and tax. In 2000, Geoff graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Ottawa with a Baccalaureate in Commerce Honours (Accounting / Cooperative Program). Geoff was quickly promoted to “senior accountant” and soon after to “manager”.
His leadership proved invaluable to the firm’s early successes, particularly during and immediately following the firm’s two mergers – first with the acquisition of Robertson & Hill in 1999 and later with the acquisition of Smiley Kazubinski Dibartolo in 2000. Geoff obtained his CA designation in 2003 and was promoted to partner in 2007. In addition to serving a wide range of clients in the Ottawa Region, Geoff is also the engagement partner for the firm’s audit and assurance clients in the Toronto Region. As the firm’s “Professional Standards Leader”, Geoff has played a fundamental role with the design, implementation and monitoring of many of the firm’s quality control policies and procedures.
Geoff has and continues to play an active role recruiting, hiring, and mentoring the firm’s aspiring accountants. Geoff’s direct, no nonsense approach to accounting, assurance and tax issues are appreciated not only by his clients, but also by his colleagues. Geoff is passionate about establishing strong, professional long-term relationships with all his business associates. His primary objective is providing clients with the most timely, cost effective solutions possible. Geoff is particularly interested in the audit of small to medium sized enterprises and has extensive experience with audits in both for profit and not-for profit sectors. He also enjoys consulting small business owners and professionals on personal and corporate taxation, finance, and general business administration and development.
Geoff also has extensive experience with SR&ED investment tax credit claims and currently acts as the “virtual controller” for a wholly owned Canadian subsidiary of a publicly traded U.S. corporation. In his spare time, Geoff enjoys being a dedicated and loyal husband, father and friend. His favourite pastimes are curling and golf. Geoff attributes much of his overall happiness and success to the strong family values and work ethic instilled by his parents.
Geoff is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario and holds a Public Accounting License.
